We present our sixth spotlight for the 2026 A. Rose NFP Black History Month Community Spotlight Campaign, LaToya Hinton-Howery!
LaToya was nominated for the A. Rose Black History Month Community Spotlight Campaign because of her passion for mentoring healthcare professionals in clinical research, sharing her insights on both entering the field and managing successful research sites. Her efforts help ensure that clinical research both represents and benefits the communities most impacted by health inequities.
In 2015, LaToya launched Next Innovative Clinical Research with the mission of reshaping both participation and leadership in clinical research. Bring in over 15 years of experience, she has overseen research initiatives in a variety of therapeutic fields and established clinical sites in Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, and St. Thomas. LaToya started her professional journey as a medical assistant, where she witnessed how distrust, inadequate access, and systemic inequities prevented many Black and Brown patients from engaging in research. These early experiences fueled her dedication to advancing community-focused research efforts. She earned a Bachelor of Health Administration and a Master of Public Health, and she is currently pursuing a Doctor of Public Health (DrPH).
